Marissa’s House Ethiopia: Expanding Education and Opportunity
Marissa’s House is committed to providing support to communities in Uganda and Ethiopia. Through various educational initiatives, we aim to empower children, provide a brighter future, and offer a foundation for long-term community development. Below are some of the key projects we’ve been proud to support:
Welenchity Classrooms Completion Project
Location: Welenchity, Oromiya Administrative Region, Ethiopia
The Welenchity Emmanuel United Church, serving its community both spiritually and socially, opened a school to provide education in response to the high levels of poverty that kept many children from attending school. The school, which currently educates over 500 children, faced a significant challenge due to limited classroom space. To address this, Marissa’s House Projects provided a $3,500 grant from the MDRT Foundation Worldwide Grant to complete the construction of six much-needed classrooms, giving more children the opportunity to receive an education.
Wonjishowa School Textbook Project
Location: Wonjishowa Town, Oromiya Administrative Region, Ethiopia
The Wonjishowa School, which serves approximately 900 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, faced a critical shortage of textbooks when 80 students were promoted to Grade 9. The Ethiopian government requires schools to provide textbooks in order to offer Grade 9 education, and without these resources, these students would have been unable to continue their high school education. Marissa’s House Projects stepped in to fund the purchase of 80 sets of textbooks in key subjects, ensuring these students could continue their education and pursue a brighter future.
Help us expand educational opportunities for children in need. Your donation will directly support classroom construction, essential learning materials, and resources, empowering students to continue their education and build a brighter, more promising future.
